|Total Phyio uses Heat Therapy to sooth and relax patient's aches and pains. Heat Therapy also known as Thermotherapy, is used anywhere after 24 – 48 hours post injury. There are numerous ways heat can be conveyed into the body; the treatment of moist heat packs is the most commonly used because of it’s simplicity and natural anesthetic effect. Heat Therapy can be used in the form of hot air or hot water, infrared lamp or conversion (electric currents)
Heat increases blood flow to an area and encourages healing. Similar to Cryotherapy (Cold Therapy), heat reduces muscle spasms by increasing the blood, which helps to wash out metabolic waste products and increase the amount of oxygen reaching the tissues.
